Site Investigations
Site Investigations include the performance of sampling boreholes (on and off-shore), investigation pits and site tests of soil and rock mechanics.
The main target of site investigations and tests is the determination of prevailing geotechnical conditions and acquisition of all necessary data for the design of foundations of all kind of structures. Sampling boreholes are performed by rotational drill-rigs, where the procedure is realized by hydraulic pressure and simultaneous rotation of the drilling column, assisted by continuously sampling or casing (soil or rock formation).
Depending on the site conditions and Client’s demands, boreholes may be equipped with monitoring devices of the ground water level (various types of piezometers), of soil creep or landslide deformation (inclinometers) as well as with extensometers to monitor vertical settlements. In specific cases, certain boreholes may be equipped with special tubing allowing for geophysical survey tests (e.g. cross-hole or down-hole tests).
All site activities are assisted by eight (8) completely equipped drilling rigs mounted on special trucks and by two (2) drilling rigs mounted on skies. The site investigations staff includes experienced technical assistants, drillers and engineering geologists or geotechnical engineers so that every kind of testing at any depth is possible and well performed.
Within the site equipment, a series of crane lorries and water – transport special vehicles (all – ground) is also included.
